Douglas Manry Bio

I was born in Cleveland in 1954. Began painting in oils when I was 10. Studied at The Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, plus took classes at the Willoughby School of Fine Arts and the St. Ives School of Painting in St. Ives, Cornwall, England. Have worked off and on as a deckhand on ore boats on the Great Lakes, and as a tattoo artist. I have also worked as a muralist and wrote and illustrated a children's book about Cleveland called, "The Land the Cleves Built," (more of an embarassment than anything else, but believe it or not, it's available through Amazon!!) My father gained some notoriety in 1965 for sailing his 13 and 1/2 foot sailboat, "Tinkerbelle," from Falmouth, Mass. to Falmouth Cornwall, breaking the record at the time. It was through this trip that I first fell in love with the British Isles.
